Called in at Hunters preston today to quiz them why they drill new holes for the number plate fixings and not use the nylon plugs that are fitted I got no joy at all I ended up just walking out .

Dealers don't like to admit they are wrong - it is likely to cost them money! Anyway, the screws come in any colour.

If you are planning on keeping the car for a while, make contact via this forum with Mike at LRCS, and advise him what has happened. Make sure that he opens a case or at least logs it for you. That way, if it starts to rust, LR themselves have it on record as to what has happened, and the probable cause, so will probably make the Dealer pay for it in the event of a Warranty or Perforation claim in the future. Shame there seems no way round what the idiots have done! Could you mastic a thin plastic disc over the holes (behind the bigger plate) maybe? Should stop any water getting to it? 2011 SD4 HSE Auto

Andy don't use silicon , use mastic , mastic is flexible and doesn't dry out .
