How long does a battery last in Freelander 2013

The battery in my Freelander just died during the weekend and it was just 12months and 2 weeks.

Is this a normal?

Most of my driving is in the city and there is only 18,000 km

No not normal about 5 years is average mine is older, may be worth giving it a good charge and get the alternator checked.

What is your definition of 'died' ?

The electrics in the MY13 are quite power hungry so the car can complain if you keep powering it up by opening doors etc.
I used to drive a D4 which was very similar & also if you did a lot of short runs, so used to charge it up every couple of weeks or so.

I do similar with Fl2 & have never had a problem Thumbs Up Cheers Ian

Would the battery be covered by the manufacturers warranty?

certainly should last longer than that, possibly a duff battery or a problem with the charging system on the car.

either way covered under warranty.

By the look of your signature - Singapore - you will have few sub-zero starts, so that should give you longer battery life.
The alternator is 190A, that should recharge the battery even on short journeys.

I would have hoped for 5 years minimum on a factory fit battery - mines 2008, 120,000 miles (192,000k)and still going well. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Is yours a manual with eco/stop-start? Wondering how many city stop start cycles its been through in the heat with aircon on. Bound to cause battery stress. Td4 XS manual, Orkney Grey, MY2014

Be careful which battery charger you choose "normal" ones arn't right for stop/start vehicles. You need something like

I had a battery die (confirmed dead battery by Green Flag) at about 3 years (2010 HSE). Got a new one at Halfords and about 3 months later that died. LR plugged the car in and found that there was a fault (possible intermittent) with the rear hatch handle.
