ad210358 - I use cruise control as a speed limiter for 30/40/50 (especially on M-ways with average speed cameras)

So do I ChrisB but you need to resume every time you slow down or stop, with the actual limiter, you can set it to a predetermined speed and forget it till you turn it off or stop the engine. Useful in town when you cannot hold a constant speed and aids the lapse in concentration and finding you have slipped over the limit. |

Cheers Devondave. just searched for anti stall and it looks like it is this. I've only have the car a year and never knew it had this feature. oh well I will master the features of the FL one day. |

Second that, I also wish there was a seperate digital read out of the speed you set? No problems with my FL cruise control but that on my Laguna cuts out when you operate the windscreen washers! ![]() |

The later Freelander may have the read out, the D4 does. |

My cruise control drops out on 'resume' when it's having a slippy clutch day. 138,000 miles & counting |

Have you tried to engage hill descent lately or tested the traction control? An ABS sensor as previously suggested sounds like a possible cause. |

I had this problem in my D3. It was fixed by replacing the switch. |

As above. If yours is a manual transmission then the classic FL2 slipping clutch problem can cause the cruise to disengage. This is because its likely you are cruising at approx 2000 rpm and when the CC decides it needs to give the engine a bit more power it moves it into the peak torque range where upon the clutch then slips for a second or two and the CC sees this as fault and cuts out. You can replicate this with the CC off and try accelerating in 5th or 6th gear from about 2000 rpm and watch the rev counter temporarily move up 2-300 rpm then fall back. I just live with it. Nigel |
