Looks good, did you install it yourself? From a time when dinosaurs weren't just confined to zoos! |

I don't but the voice commands work really well and the rear speaker is massive so it should be good! |

Thanks but it looks SUCH a good fit in the FL cubby hole, is there a frame that you had to knock up? How about the power supply & GPS aerial inputs? From a time when dinosaurs weren't just confined to zoos! |

Nope, had nibble a few bit of plastic on the underside as it only just fits in.

Hi stownrow, Excellent fit and looks very good. For some reason the 2798 is not available in Australia, but the 2797 comes with the traffic signal feature so I imagine they are similar. I hope you are pleased with it.

Looking at the prices and updates for the LR sat nav up to 2013 model, it seems to make more sense to buy one of these and see if it can be interfaced with the existing wiring, there are certainly more options on the Garmin than the very basic LR (Ford) sat nav which is not user friendly my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I had my garman fitted by the garage. The thing they did was to fit the surround which was a big mistake as it blanked off the on/off setting on the screen so it is perminantly on until the engine is switched off . sound is very good from the speaker inset on the top of the dash and is completely independent from everything else. The other problem is to update the data does mean removing half the dashboard to get to the Garman to remove it I think, not that I have tried

I suspect that with a bit of messing about with USB leads and the 12v adapter you could leave a flying lead in place that you could plug either a laptop or a power lead. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Hi realspeed, As Dartman the one points out you can easily fit a USB lead in the Garmin data socket and lead it into your glove box for future updates without having to dismantle the dashboard. Whilst you are doing that the first, and hopefully last, time you can fit a switch in the power feed to the Garmin that will enable you to turn it off independently of the ignition. |
