Hi all,

I noticed today that I have a light but long scratch down my drivers side window.

I'm suspecting that it was caused by a little bit of grit when I opened my window. It's either that or it's been there for a while and I've just not noticed it as it's really light.

I realise repairing scratches isnt easy. I also don't want to replace the glass for such a slight scratch (well there's 2 actually), as it's not noticeable to other people, but I know it's there!

As a result, I've just purchased one of these glass polishing kits.

It'll arrive sometime next week hopefully, and when I get a chance to try and remove the scratch, I'll be sure to put my honest opinion up here should anyone else have the same issue.

The kit should be delivered sometime next week. It's a time consuming procedure, so hopefully the gear comes before the weekend so I can work on it then as I'll not be able to work on it for two weeks after, however as soon as I do. I'll also make sure to catch photos.

I'll keep updating with all progress.

I'd be v cautious with the polishing... there's the risk you'll make things worse, rather than better...but let us know the results... pics!!! ...

You're right and thanks! I'm going to be very careful. Although I've ordered the kit with abrasives, I don't think I'm not going to be needing them. I'm planning on only using the soft pad Rayon pad's and compound rather than the abrasive pads.

It can be done. I saw a scratch very successfully removed from the inside of a windscreen some years ago where a diamond ring had scratched the screen while wiping off condensation.

They used Jeweller's rouge and cotton pads. It took a long time....but then again, it was the bosses car!  2012 SD4 XS Santorini Black

You have to be even when polishing as the heat and pressure could crack it.

Also if you have tinting it may be an issue.
