Thanks for the update. Looking at Donnus's profile, theirs is a 2010.

I believe there may be some misunderstanding here. The "towing eye cover" on the underside of the bumper is grey or black plastic, also available as a "Stainless Steel" option (which is plastic!). The standard engine undertray is steel, which is light enough to be taken off easily by one guy. The only alternative for this, as far as I am aware, is the Mantec undertray/sump guard, which is built like a brick khazi.

I think you might be right, and it could be my fault. Just found the item I am talking about on LR website and I should have called it an undershield. VPLFT0004

For that money I should hope it's the under shield and the towing eye cover. I think it's just a shiny version of the standard one. If you are after underbody protection I think the only after market one is the fuel tank guard. 2020 Defender D200 110S Pangea Green

Mantec make a sump guard and a tank guard, if you have to choose, buy the tank guard first. The tanks are plastic, and have a cradle that offer no protection. You would be unlucky to puncture the tank but you WILL deform them, and at that point the fuel gauges can get "erratic". This can give the impression that there is no fuel in the tank (when 25% full), and the engine management will cut the engine leaving you in a muddy field with a "not amused" wife, and trying to get a tow to the roadside so that the AA can take you home. Not that this has ever happened of course, but if it did, and you opened the door while still in a ditch you will rip off the lower door mouldings, which easily clip back on, unless you subsiquently drive over the detached door trim. Well that definitely sounds like a situation best avoided Currently a FL1 owner. |

The tank guard is on my wish-list as I know someone who bent the tank cradle.
I'll try to remember that! 2020 Defender D200 110S Pangea Green Gone: 2018 L550, TD4 SE Tech Auto, Carpathian Grey Gone: Defender 90 200Tdi, Grey Raptor Gone: 2012 FL2, TD4 GS Manual, Santorini Black |
