My experience with LR customer services

As you may be aware,my 08 FL2 has suffered from heavy steering due to the PAS filter blocking with debris.
My attempt to clear the debris from the steering system involved,changing the PAS fluid and filter on say 3 occasions, along with flushing out the system with hydraulic fluid.

The above did cure the heavy steering for a while Very Happy , but sadly the problem returned Sad . Brainwave Idea why don't I contact LR Customer Services and ask them to contribute towards the cost for a main dealer to carry out the work.

Ok they said, ask your local LR dealer to inspect your car and submit a report to us at JLR Customer Services. Inspection was carried out and the Technician agreed the PAS system was contaminated with weld spatter as stated in Land Rover TECHNICAL BULLETIN LTB00272v3 09 FEB 2012.

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE: YEAR 2007-2010
VIN: H000001 - H211571

Work was carried out by a main LR dealer, who I will not name as yet because they were Censored

JLR agreed to pay 50% of the total bill Very Happy. £452.23 was contributed and I paid the remaining 50% which was £856.15, Idea Brainwave, thats not 50% !!

Numerous e mails and phone calls to JLR,majority ignored,long story !! I thought, why should I have to pay for a fault that was on the car when it left the factory,irrelevant whether the car is 6 months old and in warranty or 6 years old like mine and out of warranty.FACT, Some FL2'S left the factory during 2007-2010 fitted with parts that were not fit for purpose and unsafe,JLR said it is not a safety issue and therefore a recall was not required. On 3 occasions my steering locked while driving at low speed due to loss of PAS, had it occurred at a higher speed the result could have been catastrophic, and its not a safety issue??

Now I am really Censored off with the attitude and service I am receiving from JLR, its a long story,car spent 3 days at the dealers,had to hire a car for the 100 mile journey home,JLR said the PAS pump is not part of the problem,course it is,all the PAS system is contaminated with weld spatter not just the rack and filter.

To sum up,Why should any FL2 owner have to pay for a fault acknowledged by the manufacturer, owners of FL2'S made in during this time scale should be contacted and the work carried out for free. JLR have now offered to cover ALL my cost's of £856.15, when they eventually decide to post the cheque.

As part of my work duties I have to communicate with numerous Customer Services Departments in all industries.I can honestly say that JLR Customers Services are the most unprofessional Team I have ever dealt with.

I had the complete opposite
I have dealt with a number of customer services dept- Mercdes , BMW and many more and I cannot praise JLR enough
Mike at JLR was outstanding Thumbs Up 2011 XS,Sumatra Black, GONE MARCH 2014- RR Evoque Prestige 5 door ,MY 2014,Loire Blue, Silver Roof, Panoramic roof.

I did think about waiting for the cheque to arrive before I told the Forum, but this whole farce with JLR has been going on for nearly 4 Months.

If JLR Customer Services decide to be Censored then so be it, shame, really happy with my 6 year old FL2. 2014 Audi A4 Avant - Dont like it !

I know a few members have had to replace the PAS filter because it was blocked, Have any of you been in a situation where your steering was heavy suddenly, and you had a near miss ?

In todays paper Ford are recalling 1.4 million cars due to power steering fears !
The cars affected are mostly sports utility vehicles in the USA,

Surely JLR should have recalled the affected FL2'2 ?

Only 4 months - that's a short time line in our experience here in Switzerland. Rolling Eyes

I can only applaud LR's Global Customer Relations Team - without their intervention on our behalf the obnubilate warranty LandRover Switzerland applied to our DMF problem was in effect worthless. LR's Global team's intervention resulted in compelling LR CH (not owned by LR themselves but the Emil Frey Group) to refund to us a very considerable sum of money.

Yes we had to persevere and provide many factually correct documented inputs to the Global Team, and, endure what was quiet frankly some obnoxious telephone calls from LR CH - and yes it did take far too long for LR CH to see the merit of our claim, but we prevailed.

A superb effort over a nine month campaign by the Gaydon global team. Thumbs Up

In the years I have been driving, Vauxhall customer services are just incredible, second to none. LR have been good on the single time I have had to use them.

Audi are just shocking. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Cheque has now cleared Very Happy Land Rover have over the past 2 Months paid me £452.23 and £836.15 a grand total of £1288.38.
This is to cover the cost of a new steering rack, power steering pump,power steering reservoir and pas fluid,4 wheel alignment was also carried out, all work was done by a JLR main dealer.

Good result for my 6 year old HSE, with 3 main dealer service stamps and 3 independent service stamps.
Now I have to make a decision Sad to either keep my car or px for a 3 litre XF S I had a test drive in, really impressed with the XF Very Happy 2014 Audi A4 Avant - Dont like it !
