DVD satnav player and screen

I have a satnav DVD player and screen that I bought several years ago off ebay in an aborted attempt to retro fit to my brother-in-laws GS freelander but was quickly put off the idea,is it possible to test the units before putting them up for sale or is the only way to plug them into a donor vehicle? Smile
