I need a repair to the rear diff and will be phoning around for quotes in the morning so just wanted an idea of what I should be expecting.......

One quote so far from E H Douglas of £400+vat , 6 hours labour and they have done around 60 repairs to vehicles so far and originally were charging 12 hours labour!! Black FL2

Seems pretty reasonable to me. If they've done 60 odd vehicles, they sound like they know what they're doing.
All depends on what I guess constitutes a low level diff repair (ie bearing) etc

As a comparison, give Stratstone Solihull a bell, and prepare for heart failure. You will also run a very high risk that they will up the job and cause more harm than good. Foraging near Gaydon....

Just tried Landrover in coventry but the lines are busy so I think I will go with E H Douglas, rather go with them than risk getting it done elsewhere for £100 cheaper and possibly have further issues.......

Technically it's not my car and is still registered in my wife's name although she has purchased a new car, so I might ask her to pay for it to be done! As she has knowingly given me a broken car  Black FL2

Another quote from a recommendation from a garage owner was to try Loughran Brothers in Towcester

If you do a search their seems to be a large variation, from £400 at TVLR which is a highly respected Land Rover Service Centre to £1200 at an Indy

Thanks for that....so £400+vat and a loan car included sounds a fair price then.....the freelander has now become my car so it will only cover around 5,000 miles a year now instead of 20,000 miles a year the wife was covering in it so hopefully after this repair it will last me a few years Black FL2

Replaced rear diff £1200 from green oval in Leeds note this is replacement not repair, cost me £50 excess on warranty direct claim

Aye there not bad had my WD policy on my D3 for four years (2k) paid to them over that time and had 5k worth of work done on that and £450 on swmbos FL2 and claimed £1200 back on that
