So, I've been buying a few bits recently:

* Wheelarch rubber trims - made in France
* LR alloy wheels - made in Czech Republic (I think?)
* LR locking wheel nuts - made in France
* Air filter, pollen filter, oil filter, fuel filter - made in France, Austria, Germany
* Pirelli tyres - Italian company, tyres made in Great Britain

It just made me smile a little when you think about how the Chinese are apparently desperate to buy "British".

As long as the parts meet the design specification they will be sourced wherever they they can be supplied for the least cost (including delivery to the factory). With a bit of luck, the parts might even be made by people who are experts in making that type of part. In reality all that car makers do today is design and then assemble cars from a parts bin.

You could add that a Land Rover largely consists (mechanically) of Ford, Volvo and Peugeot/Citroen items. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it certainly backs up the comments from BossBob.

Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

Seems to have gone from strength to strength in the last few years since no longer being owned by Ford.

While 'British' is a bit vauge in the FL it is the reason I looked at the car rather than the jap / german boxes you can get.

Although it does not have the same amount of gizmos as the others to me it does not feel the compromise the others would be when driving.

Why - I have no idea.
