As long as the parts meet the design specification they will be sourced wherever they they can be supplied for the least cost (including delivery to the factory). With a bit of luck, the parts might even be made by people who are experts in making that type of part. In reality all that car makers do today is design and then assemble cars from a parts bin. |

You could add that a Land Rover largely consists (mechanically) of Ford, Volvo and Peugeot/Citroen items. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it certainly backs up the comments from BossBob. |

Seems to have gone from strength to strength in the last few years since no longer being owned by Ford. |

While 'British' is a bit vauge in the FL it is the reason I looked at the car rather than the jap / german boxes you can get.

Ford laid the foundations for the far better quality seen on the FL2 than what was the rest of the range when it was launched. I am lead to believe that the management at Halewood refused to deliver the first FL2s and halted the production by several weeks until the quality was brought up to Ford standards. Got to admit the FL2 is not fault free, but compared to the previous two FL1s it's far better. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner |
