Rubber Wheel Arch Trim

Hi Guys,

I see there is a lot of chat on here regarding the rubber wheel arch trim, I'd like to know it's purpose? Mine is starting to hang off in places, and I think has come off/been pulled off in the past in others.

Is it purely cosmetic or should I look into replacing them to stop water ingress?

Cheers,

Robin

I would say that it is cosmetic, although may prevent the lip on the wheel arch being chipped by stones ?

but I would say that they actually encourage corrosion in this lip, especially if car garaged when wet on a regular basis.

there are a few posts on this topic if you have a browse.

Iain

The front nearside trim (only) now has an extra rubber seal. Presumably it's there for a reason or they wouldn't have changed it. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Hmm this is something I keep coming back to, mine are alittle up and down on the truck and would look nice if replaced with new again, but is it just a case of pulling the old ones off and pushing the new on? Or are there clips or rivets to remove? ( I havnt had a close look )

Cheers

Dan

If you swap them give the wheel arch a good wash before fitting the new one's as there is a lot of muck up there.

Anyone notice that there is a piece of exposed body work between the rear doors and lower sill trim in the wheel arch this Gets stone chipped to hell and then the Rusts.
