I have struggled with my Trolley Jack because of insufficient lift, a particular problem with jacking the rear of the Freelie where a high lift is needed.

Have any Forum Members recently bought a trolley jack that the are happy with and would recommend? if so what make, model and supplier?
.
Equally what make / model should be avoided because of strength or reliability or build problems.
.

The above get a good report on the D3 forum for the 3 ton one and are local too
The other recommended one is the Machine Mart 3000 series but not the quick lift as that has a tendency to twist under very heavy loads.

I have the SGS 3 ton heavy duty jack. It gives a good height of lift and is has a low profile when down. It has done good service over the past 12 months even lifting my boat and helping to lift a tree root. However, it does ease itself down fairly quickly, so permanent supports (axle stands) need to be inserted ASAP. I should probably take this up with SGS but it reminds me not to rely on the jack alone ! - 2007(57) XS Auto, Rimini Red, Alpaca Leather.

Excellent jack - no complaints at all (except that it's heavy, but that's not a bad thing since it simply reflects the fact that it's very strong and well built).

Unless you spend your life jacking cars quick lift seems completely unnecessary - it only takes a few strokes to have a non-quick-lift at operating height.

Another one for the SGS 3 Ton one, makes short work of lifting the D4, cannot fault the product or the company. Only just down the road from you Fred, sure they would not object to you popping in.

I've just been and checked mine and it's the 3 ton version not 2 ton although the 2 ton is easily enough for a fl2 I agree the quick lift might not be needed on a fl2 but I bought mine when I had a D2 so I used it all the time and still do on many other D2s.with regards to them twisting I've never had a problem with mine.

My old trolly jack couldn't get high enough to get the wheels off the floor so I went for the 3 tonne quick lift from Machine Mart based on the maximum lift height.

Not wishing to denagrade the MM quick lift as I've never had one just going by comments and photos on the D3 forum.
The most popular on there was the MM CTJ3000G as there was an adaptor available to fit the Disco jacking points.

+1 used it on both my discos & now the FL2....good solid piece of kit will lift the full back or front end no problems at all  Cheers Ian

GUESS WHAT!!!!!

ITS THE SAME JACK Machine mart is red with white handle and lifting cup, whereas the SGS is all-over black and £22.00 cheaper.
.
Even more surprising is that you can go on ebay and buy the machine mart one from several sellers at a price of £121 - £141 ........Wow
.
I am aware that several of you are also on the Defender allied forum, please can you add these notes on there to help somebody else.

So is one a clone of the other, if so what was the first cloned from...........
I owned a Zafira a coulpe of years ago and have Opcom on my laptop, mine was a Chinese clone of the Hungarian Clone of Vauxhall. I used to sell a handbook on ebay that I hade composed, then Opcom Hungary clone company stopped me - sort of cheecky?

I'll go next week when I am back in Machine mart and have another look to see how similar they are.
