Iphone bluetooth notifications

While driving this afternoon with my iphone connected via bluetooth, I noticed that when the iphone is not on silent, all of the notifications sounds for calendar reminders, Facebook, eBay etc go through the speakers of the car.

Has anyone managed to get music to play by either hacking their unit or any 3rd party apps that may be available? I'd love to be able to get rid the Aux cable for good! Idea

I have a MY11 FR2.

I have installed a bluetooth usb adapter connected to the aux port. I do have an ipod connectivity module which hardwires my phone to the existing stereo , however members of my family have androoid phones and they sometimes want to stream music to the head unit. I have connected a 12v to 5v USB adapter onto the front aux socket (ignition powered) using piggyback spade connectors. The usb lead runs under then handbrake console towards the aux socket. Due to an earlier mod (retrofit TOMTOM) the aux socket was pushed out but remained LIVE under the consol . Using an aux audio lead i have plugged the bluetooth adapter into the aux port. This is all hidden behind the rear audio control module.

You can connect an iphone to the phone bluetooth and bluetooth module simultaneously , enabling to play music to headset but still answer calls.

I have a MY 10 GS

It sounds like you work for NASA! But the set up sounds amazing. I think I'm going to use a bluetooth receiver via the Aux for which is a cheap fix and allows me to have the iphone sitting in the 'pen tray' as like most, I don't trust the sat nav.

Long tern, I might see if car play can be retro fitted later next year!

That doesn't look too complex actually. I might see if I can get someone to take it on!

I think all cost little over a Tenner . I got a 12v to 5v step down converter with 2 female usb connecters , so i have a spare socket should any other mods be needed!
