I did also consider mounting a light on the horizontal part of the side wall of the boot, above the present light's position. I haven't been able to find a suitable one

Hi Fred,
Got round to it at last and well pleased even with standard lamp fitted.

Made the connection into the original luminaire by disconnecting plug and using some miniature male spade connectors we had lying round.

Fred,

Only LED's to do now on mine are the map reading reverse polarity bayonet bulbs. Look kind of naff at the mo compared to the LED's I've fitted, however, searching Fizzmo's site for the part number you provided returns zero search results? Do you have any further info on these?

I used Fizzmo for the normal LED's - great service and price so want to get the others from there as well. Only ones on the bay are from Oz or China Rolling Eyes

Hi Dave, you won't find them on their site, the make small batches to order for the likes of us. If they havnt any ready made it will only take a couple if days. They are a really good supplier.

Thanks Fred,

By the way when installing the wiring after removing the lower side trim and the load space floor we found a part of the wiring harness with 2 fuse carriers tucked up behind the upper trim (in the vicinity of and below the 12 volt socket) which I would never have known were there and what they protect if they had blown and we had not carried out this mod.
Any clues.

Also found the tow socket wiring module lying unfixed and a potential rattle/noise (Well done Williams LR at Manchester) which then bolted down and all is now OK.

Hi Bill, I want to go hunting for those fuses just so I know I've found them.
Please can you clarify. You mention 'upper trim', is that the white pillar trim? Because you mention the power socket which is in the black loadspace trim. So which is it tucked behind?
.
I'm tempted to pull the fuses and see what stops working.
.
Whilst at the back with the tailgate open I still want to give though on properly sealing the high level brake light poor factory seal.
.
Kind regards from Fred

Hi Fred,

They are at low level just behind the back trim in which the 12 volt socket is situated. We found them when we removed the load space floor and the small floor "bits and pieces" recess to investigate ways of getting the wiring to the new loadspace light and also the possibility of taking a permanent live to the new light just in case we needed it to stay on after the "time out" period.

Also just whist writing this had the thought of going to the wiring diagram "sticky" if I can remember which topic it is in.

Best regards,

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Orkney Grey

Hi Fred, just in the process of changing a MY11 XS for a MY14 XS which has lost the map lights. Questions 1)What year Focus did you get the light from? 2) had my MY11 light apart and it has a single wire on the right which seems to be the neg and a double wire connector on the left, does the non map light loom have the two wire connector?

Thanks, Mac MY14 TD4 manual XS Orkney grey.

The wiring is the same. i.e. one twin connector, one single. This is the light you need - don't know the Ford MY but they used them in the Ghia Fiesta, Focus and Mondeo...

Re the wiring I concurr with Lebouch.
.
Regarding the light with map lights as your next Freelie is clearly under warranty may I reccomend you buy a LR genuine part via Dan at Duckworths. The earlier Focus light a d the later Freelie light look indentical (and will be the same maker), but the earlier light is deeper internally and needs you to trim away hidden plastic divider walls inside the LR roof moulding.

Kind regards from Fred.

I've fitted the Focus interior light into two different MY2010's recently and it fitted fine without any trimming, Fred?
