Clutch slip at certain revs

Hi guys, I have recently noticed my girlfriend's Freelander seems to have started to slip the clutch slightly. It seems to only do it at quite low revs, say between 1500 and 2500 ish? This actually gets better as it revs up which seems strange?
I have had a quick google around etc but thought you guys would probably know straight away how severe this could be? I am fully prepared for a new clutch, but are we talking flywheels and all sorts? Cheers.

There is lots of information on here about clutch slip - use the search facility above and you'll find all the information you could want.

Briefly, 1500-2500 is the range within which you're likely to experience slip because the engine's torque peak is at around 2000 rpm. Once you get above 2500 the torque has dropped off and the slip stops.

Consensus here is that the problem is not clutch wear per se, but rather something along the lines of a problem with the automatic adjustment mechanism. Unfortunately the solution remains the same - a new clutch. Whether you also need to replace the DMF won't be known until the gearbox is out and the flywheel inspected. Unfortunately gearbox out on an FL2 is a fairly big job.

I would suspect the flywheel.
Same happened to mine at 26k miles. If it is the flywheel, clutch slip will occur at around 2000 rpm and as the revs rise, the torque reduces and the clutch will bite again. This happens in high gear only.

Mines doing it again at 60k mils and the dealer wanted £1300 Big Cry
Procured the parts myself, DMF, friction plate, cover and slave cylinder for £320 and my local Indy will be fitting it next week.

I'm afraid the DMF is c Censored p on all diesel cars, DMF's with petrol fair much better as the torque is kinder on the flywheel. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

It is doing it in the lower gears too if that makes any difference?
It is really noticeable in second actually.

It probably doesn't make any difference to the solution, but the symptoms do sound a bit different from the norm which is slip usually only in gears 4-6, sometimes 3rd. I've not heard of it in 2nd before, so your problem might be different. It will still be in the area of clutch / flywheel / slave cylinder, though, so the fix is likely to be the same.

Ah, different to DMF problems. It wont slip no matter how hard you try in the lower gears because the torque is lower.
Sounds like a different problem, could be rear main seal.
In any event, it's gearbox off I'm afraid.
A full days work at dealer or Indy Big Cry Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.
