First Impressions

Had my Freelander for 3 weeks now, and must say so far very impressed.

Good points; smooth drive, particularly at speed. Excellent driving position, firm seats. Responsive engine, I like to put it into sport mode when joining motorways or overtaking. Useful reversing camera. Good music system with iPod, blue tooth connectivity, DAB radio.

Not so good; sat nav, not as good as TomTom but may be I haven't fully exploited system. Really wish it had split tailgate. Squeeking steering wheel!

Make sure you take up Land Rover's offer of a complimentary 1/2 day experience where you'll find out a lot more about the Freelander and hopefully discover the SatNav isn't that bad.

I bought a used (2010) Freel 2 from a LR dealer in January - would I qualify for the LR Experience offer or is it only 'new' car sales?

Thanks rchrdleigh.

Dealer didn't mention the Land Rover experience, I purchased car from Land Rover dealer as ex demonstrator, do you think Land Rover will still send me complimentary voucher for the 1/2 day experience?

They didn't when I changed mine for an ex-demo. According to the dealer (Lakeland Cumbria), they only send them out on new registrations. Fortunately, my previous 62 plate was a new purchase, so I got to go the year beforehand. Foraging near Gaydon....

Some Dealers still have a (small) stock of the old style vouchers which they might give you. Believe LR may be about to expand the Experience Voucher scheme to include those who have purchased a pre-owned vehicle from a Dealer but..........

If you can prise them from your other halves steely grip you can use Tesco Clubcard vouchers to pay for half a day at an LR Experience Centre.
There are also at least 2 levels of half day, one which is really a sales pitch with as much road driving as off-road driving, and a much better half day aimed at you really finding out whatever you choose to drive can do off road. The first tends to be free, a voucher sent by Land Rover, and the second paid for in beer vouchers or club card vouchers.

Bought my 2008 HSE from Carrs LR in Truro two years ago and got a voucher. Took it back for service 12 months later and got another! Tried an Evoque on the second one. They're good to drive, particularly since you can't see the ugly brute when you're driving it. Thumbs Up Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

Mine - 2014 Vespa GTS 300 Super Sport Matt Black
Ours - 2007 White Bailey Pageant Champagne

The LRE Voucher system changed last year when LR started to issue them direct when customers bought a new LR or RR. Dealer issue vouchers were supposedly withdrawn at the same time but some are still being given out (and accepted by LR Admin).

The invitation from LR invites you and a guest to participate in a complimentary half day experience in the vehicle of your choice.

What you do on the Experience is pretty much up to you. You will probably be steered towards doing a short road drive followed by an extensive off-road session. There is no sales pitch as you get the invitation for buying the vehicle and the idea is to show you what the vehicle is capable of and to answer any questions you might have about the vehicle that the Dealer hasn't answered for you and show you features on it you may or may not have discovered for yourself, such as off-road mode on the SatNav.

Stick with the Nav, it's not as bad as some say, just spend a couple of hours with the Nav manual and it works a treat.

Thanks Charliecloud, getting more used to the satnav now, and it's not as bad as first thought.
