Averaging just over 36mpg over approx 9k miles, 75% motorway rest in town. 2009 GS manual. Decided I'd be pleased with anything over 35mpg when I got it!

My SD4 HSE with 5.5k miles returns about 32-33 mpg mixed driving.

The last few days I've been doing a lot of airport pick ups and driving around the M25. As locals will know there are a lot of 50mph sections with average speed cameras.

My driving has been pretty much all done with the cruise control button and I've done a few hundred miles at 50 and 70 with no hard accelerations. I've also been driving at night with nothing to hold me up so this figure is pretty much the best I can do.

I have just scraped past 37mpg average which is miles away from the official quoted figure of 48mpg.

Meh.

England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Orkney Grey

Having moved from a GS TD4 manual to an XS SD4 auto it does appear to use more fuel around town but is better on motorways. Towing a 1600kg 'van is about the same.

Figures so far on 1830 miles with 193 miles towing are 32mpg overall.

The 'old' TD4 for 74k miles with about 18k towing were about 34mpg overall but I did a lot more motorway miles then (when I had to work for a living Laughing ). GONE - '07 TD4 GS manual Zermatt Silver
LONG GONE - '55 Norton Dominator 99 SS cafe racer

as i have mentioned before to get a true mpg the tank as to be filled to the brim then calculate mpg.
example yesterday filled up, nozzle cut out at 43.75 lts. carried on slowly filling till pump read48.46 over one gallon more.
my 57 gs auto averages 34 mpg on run and 23 around town which i think is good for the comfort and speed on the freelander. 57 reg GS leather seats panoramic sun roof

I always stop filling the tank at the first click then calculate mpg from there. Can this point vary from pump to pump? speed of pump? Very Happy

Same 77 mile journey twice today, first trip 37 MPG in Auto Mode, then 38 MPG for the return journey in Sport Mode.
Traffic very similar with few stops. Mixed roads from A1 to country routes.
Average speed shows 49 mph for both journeys. 2013 XS SD4.

Mpg

28.5 Mpg mainly motorway work at high speed, td4auto dropped from 31.4 average once a new set of Avon rangers were fitted on all corners.
