I'm Paul. I am living in sunny South Africa.

I have a 2008 2.2 TD4 HSE Freelander II auto. I have joined this forum as I have a few questions and I was wondering if anyone could help...My FL2 is rather heavy on diesel, I am currently using around 13 litres per 100km. Short distances and doesn't get much better on the long road. Is this a common consumption rate?

I also experience a wierd noise and a bit of hesitation from the auto box beteeen 1st & 2nd?

My passenger side door also only locks and unkocks when it feels like it. If you lock the car with the remote all the doors lock besides that one and the same if you use the lock or unlock button on the console, any suggestions as to what the fault could be? I don't think it's the servo as it does lock and unlock sometimes.

I apologise for starting right off the bat with questions...but could anyone help?

Hi Paul. Welcome to the forum. You will see there is already a long fuel (or MPG) discussion thread. All your fuel consumption information should be there. Use the search facility for the gearbox and door lock issues. If you still need any answers then follow on from an existing thread or start a new one if your symptoms are different.

Hi All,

Picking up my first freelander next week and quite looking forward to it. It is a TD4 SE Auto 2009 MY with under 16k recorded miles, full service history and upgraded Alpine stereo. I have many years ago owned a Discovery when they first came out and was very impressed with the vehicle but just don't need the size anymore, only the off road capability .

I would have loved to go for the upgraded 2010 facelift model but unfortunately funds would not allow. Hopefully I will not regret this.

Great forums and I am sure I will be back over the coming years time and time again to seek and hopefully provide some advice.

New (used) FR2 S 2011 owner here. Completely new to the brand and looking forward to getting to know everything there is to know about this amazing vehicle and brand.

About the user name.. The thing is that me and my wife have this game where we give everything the pre-fix "gay, such as gayPad, gayPhone etc so now that we have a freelander we just couldn't resist calling our new car the gaylander

Nothing against gays or anything, so no worries. It's just a name game.

Car is absolutely smashtastic so far. Looking forward to taking it to the countryside next w-end.

I guess I ought to introduce myself!! I'm almost a Freelander 2 owner as I collect my car tomorrow afternoon! I can't wait!! I've not been this excited about owning a car for years!! Timed it well as we have a weekend break in the Peak District this weekend too!!!

I've been a long time lurker here and posted a few questions over the last week or so, and also had a pretty bad experience at a LR dealer for the 1st one I went to see!

I must say that compared to other forums, this seems great with a friendly knowledgeable bunch of people. I look forward to picking your brains!!!

I already have a shopping list (don't tell SWMBO!) So far I want LR boot mat, Mudflaps, dog guard (more for increased boot height) Ipod kit, spare wheel and tools.....

I don't even own it yet!!!
