Hi all,

I was having my usual nosey around ebay last night and bought these, I wanted side steps but the weight and mpg issue has always put me off, I thought these would be ok.

My question is how come I cannot find them anywhere on the internet, can anybody shine a torch on this?

I just hope they go straight on with no issues

they just look like aftermarket style side tubes with steps built in

Why are you worried about weight and mpg regarding side steps/tubes, surely i won't make that much difference to consumption

I would not of thought it would have made much difference, I have a know it all neighbour what seems to get into my head, going on about how crap freelanders are and with me only getting 24mpg anyway, thought he might of had a point on the mpg thing.

I just wondered if anybody might have known the make or any ideas of the original seller might be

Oh, and how do you manage to get 24mpg? You must spend your life stuck in traffic whilst towing a 2-ton trailer to get that low!

He has a toyota avensis estate, he claims he had a freelander and it was rubbish and always in the garage, i have lived across the road from him for 9 years and never seen him with one. The typical take to the garage to get everything done type of person, the one who always says "something wrong?" every time you lift the bonnet.

24 MPG easy live in the hills 15 miles to work one way each day, like postman pats run average speed 23mph on the clock. Well I hope that's the problem????

The Avensis isn't bad for an 'ordinary' car, but not a patch on the FL! His loss.

Maybe just me, but that 24 still looks low. I live in the Pennines, but still get 36-38 driving locally. OK, my driving style is relatively relaxed, and the auto typically gives 5-6 mpg less than the manual, but even so...

You need to plan your route better so its downhill both ways

It says complete with fixings, mmmmmm, will need a new set of Riv Nuts though.

had a re-thought and have deleted my comments on the steps. however with MPG so bad I just wonder if there is something else amiss; could it be a leaking EGR valve causing havoc with the fuel/air mix?

i have never seen them before.

As for the MPG i knew it was bad but thought thats what im going to get, i have had the glowplugs done in the past month at a top Jaguar garage in Wakefield and full service, gearbox oil and after all the work they did not spot anything odd.

I live just off saddleworth moor, must be the thin air

I'm a little concerned now, it is under stratstone warranty, might get it to them to have a look

Suppose only getting 370 miles per tank is not good, i have got a diesel chip in and get around 27 now but that is only a quick test.
