There is a Lincolnshire farmer by the name of David Cundall supposedly in Myanmar, (old name Burma), he reportedly went there in December 2013 being sponsored by the UK Claridon group and he reckons that he knows where between 20 and 120 new unused Spitfires were buried at the end of world war 2. Theres hope that they can excavate and bring them back to the UK

It was on TV a year ago when David Cundall made his first trip, he was backed up by a team of archaeologists who went scraping the surface with trowels, getting exited by tiny finds when in reality it was a JCB job to dive down deep.

I was pretty sure that based on his previous trip he'd admitted he was mistaken and that there was, in fact, no evidence of any buried aircraft at the site (Spitfires or otherwise)....

An article dated Feb 2014 here says he is having to wait on the authorities for permission to continue. |
