There is a recent post http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic18852.html where the rear wiper developed a life of it's own. Turned out to be the stalk switch on the steering column which in your case may be the same (or the wiring in the column) and may explain the indicator involvement. Otherwise check the earth points. Just an update for anyone with similar problem. Car now fixed. It was a circuit board behind the steering wheel, linking the wiper stalk to the indicator stalk. Possibly the same as in the link John posted above. It was around £120 plus labour, covered on warranty I purchased.
