This is driving me potty... I've had this problem since I got the car. I've changed the blades for expensive bosh ones... I've cleaned the window and even done the rainex thing but still I can't seem to cure this misting.

Its not too bad but more an annoyance.

Any thoughts?

PS I have bent the arm slightly in too and got a new spring for when it is possible to fit.... but I dont hold to much hope... I'm thinking wind screen ware and tear as its an 56 Terran

get the rainx off it doesnt suit fl2. try some wipers from opie oils the worked a treat on mine At work

Nonsense, I have had rain-x from day one, no problems, no judder, no squeeks.
70,000 miles and still on original wiper blades, if the fluid is not applied correctly and polished off correctly it will judder, it leaves a residue on the blades which will cause them to harden over time.

CCS' get some iron-x contaminant remover, this will draw out any contaminants from the microscopic pits and scratches on the screen and leave you with a very clean surface, if that fails then I'd be looking for a new screen

You must be doing something right then Taz, when I put rainX on my windscreen, the wipers were terrible and I had used it on several other cars with no problems.

My experience with windscreen treatments like rain-x or gtechniq etc is they always smear a bit under the wipers, I put stuff on the side and rear screen but I leave the windscreen alone now.

I have you tried claying the screen, you'll be surprised how much stuff that removes.

I've used rain x for years amd never had a problem with it, im using it on my freelander now with no issues.

I had same issues. Cleaned screen with autoglym glass cleaner twice (not fast glass) then a new set of genuine LR blades, jobs a good un.  MY2014 SD4 XS

You could try cleaning screen with very fine wire wool, seems a it drastic but does work, would certainly get anything off the screen that should'nt be there, and yes I did it on mine but I did try it on my daughters old car 1st

Another one against Rain X, it seems to be on vehicles with Flat Blade Wipers that the smearing and juddering seems to happen, old style wipers seem fine.

Rain-X...less is more, use very sparingly why put loads on only to wipe it all off or have it evaporate, rub it in using a gentle swirling motion, I can see the effect on the screen changing as I wipe it on. It is advised not to use it in cold weather? maybe it doesn't coat the screen correctly or evaporate correctly, the alcohol content will cause the blades to harden possibly causing the judder as they are not as flexible as they should be.
One trick I use, at this time of year, is to turn on the screen heater for a few minutes before application, works a treat

Must be where I went wrong, I just did the swirling motion.

Video added, two weeks since rain-x applied, driven to Norfolk and back, washed a couple of times.

i wonder if it could be grease or oil on the screen that has got there some how?

Judging by the rainbow colouring effect on the screen, it looks to be oil/chemical contamination.

Thanks guys for the geed back... to be clear... I had the issue BEFORE I tried rainx...

I have to say when I looked at the wipers yesterday they did not seem to be touching the screen at points.

I played with them and that was the result.... ie no better.

I may clay the screen in the am but I did try AG fast glass and cream when I first got the car.

I'm wondering if some one has used a naff blade before I got the car.
