Central locking, software glitch?

Just got our Freelander 2 back from a service. It went in with one problem, the drivers window appeared to jam as soon as you operated it.
When we picked it up, the service department told us that the mechanic didn't find anything wrong with the window but we have a problem with the boot opening on the central locking?? We didn't have the problem before the servicing but we now have a boot that only opens with the fob button and not the central locking.

Do you think that this is a software glitch? I kind of thought the mechanic may have plugged the computer in first which cleared the window issue but then caused the boot issue as we didn't have any boot issues before the service.

What happens if you double unlock?

All the doors unlock but not the boot unfortunately. You have to use the boot opening button. Freelander 2 TD4e 2010

sounds like a faulty boot switch in the handle

don't think they will have done anything to the programming to alter the boot, so might be just a pure coincidence

You might well be right, maybe we just didn't notice the boot not opening correctly before the service. Freelander 2 TD4e 2010

Sorry, a little unsure of the problem, first post sort of contradicts your second post.

Don't think it will be the switch, when the switch plays up you normally cannot open the Tailgate by the handle, you have to use the Fob.
You should be able to unlock all doors with the Fob, you can then open the Tailgate with the the handle, alternatively just open the Tailgate with the Fob. It shouldn't open with the Central Locking, just unlock.

Yep, you're right, it should only unlock with the key fob......that's the problem, it doesn't. You have to use the boot opening button on the key fob to unlock/open the boot. The boot doesn't react at all with the normal central locking unlock button. Freelander 2 TD4e 2010

Is this with both Fobs, just trying to rule out the Fob being the cause.

As nick says, all the signs of the boot switch playing up, mine did exactly the same!

Seems like the consensus is the boot switch?

But why does it work with the key fob boot switch but not the central locking key fob switch? Surely it's the same switch that is operating or not depending on the signal the switch or actuator receives....... Question Freelander 2 TD4e 2010

No, the fob boot latch actually releases the tailgate, the central locking only unlocks it.
