yes I realise that, but my original point was how do keep the remap AND the update? presumably if we keep the remap on, get the update - it'll surely erase the data on the ECU that the Bluefin changed to make it have more torque? so when you update it via land rover you're back to the standard 160hp setting? then presumably if you reinstall the remap you wipe out the update that was installed at land rover? |

Probably the easiest solution is to call Superchips directly and ask them how it works. Whereabouts unknown stop going to follow stream until reach civilisation stop message ends |

best bet is to remove a blufin back to normal, if your car is going into a dealers just in case

If dealer overwrites the Bluefin map then I would imagine you can contact Bluefin to enable you to run the process again, i.e store the new dealer map and replace it with the Bluefin map.

For what purposes might a dealer overwrite the mapping of a 2009 FL2 HSE, when it's booked in for a routine service? Whereabouts unknown stop going to follow stream until reach civilisation stop message ends |

I had a motorbike that had several manufacturer fuel map updates during ownership.

Depends what the software upgrade is. If it is an engine map upgrade then yes it will over write it. But your best to let them upgrade it and then have your bluefin read the later version of the software and let Superchips upgrade that. If you install the standard software prior to an upgrade, when you re-enter your bluefin or other software, you re-install a modified version of the old software. Any other software upgrade will not effect your re-map.
When a cR is serviced, they check for factory updates. If for example new software has been written to upgrade the engine map file, then you will have your re-map over written. My old car had 4 map upgrades in the 7 years I had it. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come......... |

I dug out this report of a test track session I did in 2009 with a Bluefin on a 160hp TD4 manual.

I have just ordered one! couldn't resist that extra power that my old Ford Focus used to have (Nice car but nowhere near as nice as the Freelander, but have been missing the extra grunt it had)

I can't invest in an SD4 because 1) - they are well out of my price range and 2) refuse to drive automatic cars! |

Pretty clear that the bluefin remap makes a noticeable difference in everyday driving to the Freelander, in the same way similar remapping technologies made a difference to my previous two cars.
