Audio Connectivity Module VPLFE0002 and iPhone 5s?

Hi all,

We picked up a 2010 Freelander 2 GS this week - as part of the deal the dealer fitted the Audio Connectivity Module VPLFE0002 for us.

I'm particularly interested in the USB connectivity - specifically with my iPhone 5s.

If I connect a USB thumb drive to the ACM it plays back flawlessly through the stereo, although the track names don't display, which is a shame.

However, when I connect my iphone 5s to it I get a few seconds of the power connection to the phone going on / off (like I'm unplugging / plugging in the lead) then eventually it settles down. But it resolutely refuses to play music through the stereo, which is what I wanted the bloody ACM for!

Anyone here using the ACM and iPhone 5s via USB successfully? At the moment I'm thinking it's an iOS 7 thing, but I hope not..

A workaround

A little more info..

The USB input on the ACM still refuses to play nicely with the iPhone 5s...

However.. If I connect the ACM's hard-wired iPod (30 pin) connector to an Apple 30 pin to Lightning adaptor and THEN plug the iPhone 5s in... it works perfectly. Hmmm.

I use my 5s in the same way using the 30pin adaptor to the lightning connector. I moved the ACM box down the centre console and ran the wires up through my wood company armrest Thumbs Up

Thanks. Looks like the USB input doesn't like iPhones then. Live and learn Thumbs Up

The USB is used for USB stick with mp3 files , trouble is files can't be displayed on radio , so pretty useless really . Thats why I used connection to power Tom Tom

It seems outstandingly dumb, doesn't it?

It's so frustrating when supposed top-end cars' audio systems struggle to compete with a £100 Pioneer / Alpine / Sony etc head unit.

I'm no boy-racer and am not looking to put subs in the boot - I just want to connect things up properly. Even the bloody Qashqai stereo is better than this Laughing

If you've got unlimited data , as on Three its a great way to get digital radio to your car using tune-in radio app.
