Hello,

For 19" - Fills the wheel arches better, some very nice rims out there

Against 19" - less rubber depth, therefore feel more of the road, a lot less actual tyre choice for 19"

I myself had 18" wheels, went up to 19" for 12 months, and then realised that I couldn't get the tyre brand / type which I wanted, went back down to 18s and am happy Smile

p.s The actual tyre in question was GG AT2

Its down to personal choice. noise, comfort, style and the tyre you want really.

England 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Santorini Black

I'm a newbie to both the forum and the world of FL2 having recently changed my much loved Saab for a FL2.

Mine has 19 inch wheels on it as standard and I am considering dropping down to the 18 inch wheels to give me a greater choice of tyres (I used Vredesteins on my Saab for years).

Having my FL2 serviced on Monday at the local main dealer so I will talk to the service manager about this, he used to be the service manager for the Saab dealership so I know him very well.

So you may want to also consider going from 17-18 inch wheels Thumbs Up Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Santorini Black called "Olly" my name is Mike!

I went from 17 to 19, there is a very slight increase in the harshness in the ride but it does feel more planted on the road.

Also it adds a more chunky look the the Fl2.

Thanks for the replies! I was prefering to go 18" but the selection for proper landy tyres seems to be far better for 19". I'll have to have some more thought on it Razz

17's or 19's makes no difference to the filling of the arches. The overall diameter of 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20" tyres is pretty much identical.

It is purely an optical illusion as the bigger wheels make it all look more filled out.

I also didn't notice any difference in ride quality going from 18's to 19's then on to 20's. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

I have both.

The 19s look nicer due to their proportions but due to the obvious low profile of the tyres, which is needed to maintain the same rolling radius, they are more susceptible to kerbing.

The 17's are a good, safe bet. Pot holes all but vanish, kerbs aren't a nightmare and aside from a slightly different ride handling quality and sound, I sort of prefer them to the 19's. Whereabouts unknown stop going to follow stream until reach civilisation stop message ends
