I will be waiting for the new engine, no point buying a nice new model that's supposed to be eco friendly with the same old out dated engine that's in it at the moment. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Just been reading some of the comments posted on the carmagaznie website and many people are saying it is a Range Rover product rather than a Land Rover one. There is no mistaking the front and side - they are 100% Freelander proportions albeit the headlamps look a little too Kia Sportage for my liking. The rear end is dreadful - looks too much like a Evoque and the sloping roofline - no no bad move!

Interesting to read about the engine line up - very surprised that the new car wont have the new engine but perhaps the car will be ready before the engine is - or perhaps they want to stick the engine in the Evoque and RRS first?

Lets hope by late 2016 the new car is a hit - has the new engines - has had any teething problems sorted so that I can place my order and be back amongst the LR family  Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

Land Rover did consider fitting the 2.7 TDV6 to the Freelander 2, and by all accounts there are a couple of prototypes stashed away somewhere in Gaydon.

But the only reason they did not build them is because of pedestrian laws. As the TDV6 would have to mounted transversely in the FL2, you would have a cylinder head at the back, and one at the front.

Apparently the front cylinder head didn't leave enough room between it and the bonnet to conform to the pedestrian safety laws, so the idea was dropped.

Got some more news today! LR apparently now have the option of the new engine from launch.
