Spare key

Picked up new Freelander from dealer in September, came with two keys. Dealer has just sent me a third one in the post, no explanation .Is this normal?

Probably a cock up by the dealer. Does the key work? If so maybe one to keep quiet about, after all it can't be reprogrammed for another car. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Hah!. Just checked and it doesn't work. I'd better let dealer know as it must be meant for someone else, although they've clearly written my reg no. and vehicle description on the key tag. Thanks for replies.

I work for a mail order company, I've seen a few similar mistakes sending stuff to wrong customer etc. like wise every now and again we get stuff delivered to the warehouse that's been sent to the wrong company. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

So,contacted dealer, he asked me to send it back, which I did. Guess what? They've just sent it back again! Thing is, each time it's sent 'signed for' post, so I have a 12 mile round trip to Royal Mail depot to collect the mystery package. This time I'll just stick it away in a drawer, let the dealer figure it out. Anyone out there expecting a spare key!?

You can get the package redelivered to save you a trip to the sorting office. The dealership must be a set of numpties to send the key to you a second time! Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

To be honest I'd thought I'd seen a thread on here saying you can't reprogrammed a fob. But I too have seen quite a few used fobs on eBay where the seller says it can reprogrammed. So now I don't know if you can or can't reprogram a fob! Lol Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Old style (pre-2013MY) key fobs can only be programmed once.

Check this fob thread out.

It seems a fob that has been programmed for one car can't be reprogrammed for another car. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.
