What to look for before I buy??

Hi Guys, I have selected (and almost bought) a FL2 which I am due to collect tomorrow. I've done eerything but sign on the dotted line with my main dealer. The deal is still pending a test drive which I've been holding out for as the FL2 needed 4 new tyres. These are now installed so I am due there in the morning to rock up, test drive, sign on dotted line, then drive it home.

As I've been driving nothing but BMW Coupes for the past 15/20 years, I was wondering if there's anything I should look for on my first (and only) test drive?, I tried a few FL2's before, but just before I commit is there anything obvious I should look for or know about?

For information, the FL2 I've selected is a 2007 with 60k on the clock. Here it is in all it's glory

Thanks Guys and I look forward to joining you in ownership.....lol

Rich

Hi Rich and welcome to freel2 Thumbs Up
I can only comment to you what I did on my test drive.. A few days before my test drive I booked it in to a Indy LR garage..
The day of the test drive I drove it to the garage and they put it on the ramp and gave it a 30min check over for the fee of £30
Told me it was a sound freely, I drove back and signed the dotted line Thumbs Up

Have a look through our technical topic to see if you can pick up a few ideas on what to look out for

Thanks for the tips Guys, well, I bought it........for better or for worse......lol

The test drive was faultless, passed everything that I could think of, now that I've done a few minutes driving I've discovered a few things.

A) The second, spare keyfob doesn't seem to work very well, I was advised to swap them around to keep them charged, but the oldest, shabbiest looking one doesn't lock the car, only unlocks......so that'll need fixing

B) One of the vents on the centre, passenger side appears to be broken, the little silver adjuster knub that allows you to direct the vent up/down, left/right isn't actually connected to anything, so that'll have to go back.

LOL, Fear not, the Red Devil thing is an old school nick name (Former bright ginger child), it was years before anyone told me about the football connection, but you're safe.

And clear indicators are sitting in the living room ready to go on, ordered a set once I'd found the Freelander. essential first buy.

So, I guess I'm one of you now.....initiated.

Thanks again for the tips/advice,

Rich

If you have a warranty on the freely Rich just take the fob back and get the dealer to sort it out, don't mess with it just incase BETTER looking half of the famous Twinlanders

Right, aircon is 100% working, had a tamper today. Of the two keys I got, one is working in the dash, but none of the buttons do anything at all. I would have thought that if it needed a charge, having it in the dash would get enough juice to at least lock or open the doors, but nothing, so looks like it's duff......

Going to head to the stealers tomorrow and see what I can do...

So far, enjoying it, but it's a MASSIVE change not being able to throw it round corners as I'm used to....lol

Thanks again chaps,

Rich

You'd be surprised how quick it can do the corners. Just doesn't "feel" right. In fact it feels bl**dy frightening!

You need to swap for an SD4. Put my foot down properly for the first time today for a fast overtake, and was very pleasantly surprised. Not quite the oomph of my old 4 litre Cherokee (but then the mpg in that thing came out in single figures) but a massive improvement on the TD4.

Getting off topic here now, but were you in sport or normal drive mode Past master?

I find sport certainly helps with response when overtaking. 2016 BMW X3 30d SE in red
