Anyone have any suggestions for a whirling noise that i am getting, sounds like its coming from passenger side front corner but perhaps the passenger rear corner (difficult to tell until i get a passenger in) More pronounced when letting the car coast or when going over 50mph. Thought it might be something to do with having a new rear tyre fitted but i have had two other tyres fitted earlier in the year with no similar problem - thinking the noise and the new tyre are coincident rather than related. Sound is like the sound a hoover makes when it is switched off and the motors winding to a stop.

Went back to tyre fitter today who acknowledged the noise, took tyre off especting to see a mark on the inside of the wheel where something was rubbing but nothing, rechecked the tyre and pressures, refitted and noise still there - his opinion was it is diff related so a now awaiting LR Assist to arrive to investigate - happy days! |

Hi there, not a FL owner at moment but soon to be , a 2008 GS, a bit worried about these diff problems. We have been LR Discovery owners for the last 10 years in which they have been off roaded at times and yes I have knackered a few diffs in my time but at £50-100 a second hand diff it's not too painful. This Freelander is coming with 12 months LR warranty so any problem I hope happens in the first 12 months. Must admit though previous LRs have been much older and with 200,000 miles plus on the clock so I am hoping for trouble free motoring and spending less money on maintenance

Hopefully LR will pick up the whole cost - might be worth getting in touch with LR Customer Services yourself on here and getting them onside. |

I dread to think what the bill would have been on mine if it had been out of warranty, what would a diff bearing, 2 haldex units, 1 aux tension belt, 1 oil diff pump and an oil leak cost? Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

I don't blame you. The current X3 seems much better than the original.
