Difference between MY2007 engine and MY2011-2013 engine

I am asking from the tuning point of view.
So lets's begin.
The MY2007 2.2 Td4 is "low power" 160bhp from factory so in fact it is an SD4 which has 190 bhp.
The MY2011-2013 2.2 Td4 is "low power" 160bhp from factory so in fact it is an SD4 which has 190 bhp.

So why are there so many differences in tuning the engines. They say the MY2011-2013 has another turbo. How bigger can it be to support 228bhp when tuning. And the high power injectors http://www.freel2.com/forum/post163813.html#163813.
But it seems that this injector 9687454480. http://www.rufre.com/DetalleArticulo.aspx/en/61837/ is also present on the MY2007 engines.

So what is different why can't we have the 228bhp tune.

Kind regards,
Alex

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey

2006 to late 2010 is the 160bhp TD4 as you say, but this is not mechanically the same as the SD4.

From the face lift in 2010, the TD4 dropped to 150bhp but had more torque than the original 160 TD4. The 150 TD4 and 190 SD4 are mechanically identical. The 2WD drive eD4 has different injectors.

The later engines have various changes in hardware. Regarding tuning, it all depends on the tuner. But I have never seen any of these engines produce more than 210bhp. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Sorry you are wright 210 bhp is the max at the moment.
What is mechanically diffrent? Different cam lobes higher compresion ,lower compresion, bigger turbo, longer stroke shorter stroke.different head? Very Happy

So from comparing the engines the only different thing is the compression ratio.
The MY2013:
BORE:85mm
STROKE:96mm
COMPRESION RATIO:15.8
Max bhp at 4000rpm 150 bhp
Max torque at 1750rpm 420nm

The MY2007:
BORE:85mm
STROKE:96mm
COMPRESION RATIO:16.5
Max bhp at 4000rpm 160 bhp
Max torque at 2000rpm 400nm

So because of the compression ratio being lower more air and fuel can enter the cylinders. That is why the My 2013 mpg is lower and makes more power
If you have a smaller cylinder room and fill it with the same air/fuel like a lower compression engine it will make more power but wont be as reliable and wear faster.
