My first Fl2 08MY had an annoying knocking noise that took 4 x 1 week dealer visits to fix, which inturn they managed to loosen the rear door bodykit and put a dent in the bonnet and refused to own up to. After 2 years the sports mesh grille fell out! My second FL2 11MY was faultless for 2 years then in March this year had to have a new Haldex Unit fitted, then in July a rear diff oil pressure pump and a seal for an oil leak in the engine bay, August an aux tension belt had to be unseized and finally this month I have had another Haldex unit fitted. To add insult to injury it has to go back in again as it sounds like a bag of nails when its turning over and there is now a rattle from within the engine bay (sounds like something metal is loose?) so its going in YET AGAIN!!! A combination of these recent faults and better deals has resulted in me ordering a BMW X3 for next year - personally it cannot come soon enough!! Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

The problem with ANY product forum is the majority of posts do relate to faults because people are looking for help to solve said issue. The same can also be found on BMW, MBZ and any of the other reputable branded products. The problems i have had were not in themselves a disaster and could easily occur on other cars HOWEVER the dealership experience was utterly dreadful and that is why I will be unlikely to buy another JLR product anytime soon. The vehicle itself has many positive points (smooth, comfortable, handles well, tows great) albeit build and finish lags behind the German premium brands. My step-son however is now on his second JLR product having gone from a RR Vogue Supercharged (UK car) to a RRS TDV8 (Moscow car) this year and already looking at the new RRS for his UK car next year. eh tu? |

Had mine for just over 2 years. Still gives me a smile of satisfaction every time I drive it. Most impressed with 99% of the vehicle; very impressed with my local LR dealer (Roger Young, Saltash) where the service continues to be exemplary. Am mulling over updating to a more recent MY, however, current vehicle has all of the bells and whistles, is immaculate, and has only covered a virtually trouble free 47000 miles, so might just save the money and keep her going for a bit longer? Great "car", wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anybody thinking of acquiring one. |

I have never used any car dealership unless it has been absolutely unavoidable. I tend to use Plymouth/Devon specialists to resolve issues. My general mechanic can fix most things but there is a Land Rover specialist about 20 minutes away if needed. I have an air con specialist that comes to service and ragas every year and an auto electrician, even a key programming specialist that I use if I need a key fob.

Been with me for nearly a year now and I love it. My previous car was an XK8 and I thought it would be impossible to replace but the Freelander has. Fun to drive, I feel my family are safe in it and I have a mate with his own garage so I don,t worry too much if things go wrong, he is around one third of the price of a main dealer. My only niggle is the auto box on 1st to 2nd, I get that strange noise that plenty of other folk seem to get as well. Very comfy on long and short trips, great stereo and a nice quiet place to be. I did buy the e-bay special arm rest, £100 well spent. Air con made a few funny noises back in the summer but a re gas sorted that. It was low on oil so I'm told..... All in all very pleased, Hope I feel the same in year 2 of ownership. Mine is a late 2009 S with 63k on the clock. |

I've had it 3 months now, did a few 'fine tuning' lately, new clutch/flywheel under warranty (its 2007 model so to reach 90,000 miles on the original is pretty good). Its also had Anti Roll Bar links replaced. Other than that just small things new a new tailgate brake light coz the previous owner cracked it. Hardly a reliability issue lol

Mine still puts a smile on my face whenever I start her up and drive off, took the dog to the vets last night and found myself sitting in the waiting room just staring out of the window at it till I was called in (so sad I know)
