United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Ipanema Sand

It's human nature that you're more likely to post about something not to your satisfaction. And there's no such thing as the perfect vehicle - there's always something you think could be improved ...

Personally,I'm very happy with my FL.

My impression,FWIW, is that the FL2 is no less reliable than any other car. Many of the dealers are below par, but again you'll find good and bad dealers whatever the make. Brian

Mines a 2010 done 48000 miles, never had a single problem with it, smooth, quiet, economical, and fairly quick for what it is, sometimes when reading all the faults everyone else has on here I feel Im missing out somehow. Laughing

Very happy with mine. Had it 18 months now on a 4 year GMFV deal. Very minor issues all solved quickly under warranty and very good customer service from Stratstone Nottingham.

As others said it is great in snow and I have gone off roading in the peak district where it was also excellent.

Depending on where I am with my career and finances at the end of the deal (should have finished uni by then), I will decide whether to keep it, trade in for a new one or get rid.

£7.5k is the GMFV I was given. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby
LOT (Lord of Time) - University of Gallifrey

2008 GS Auto for 30000 miles, so pleased I bought a 2010 new and had to reject it after 9 months due to vibration LR were unable to cure. LR customer service brilliant at end of day anda new 2011 SD was offered for a small sum. Jumped at the offer as I had done 14000 miles in the 9 months.
SD has only had a fuel tank sensor and has now done 14000mls, brilliant car. All FL2's (3) Gone
2011 Mercedes C180 CGI Gone
FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.

United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Barolo Black

I have an FL2 XS with full leather after owning a base S model for 3 years.

Both FL2s have been fabulous cars. The extra features of the XS make for that luxury driving comfort. The driving position, towing ability (...for a boat!) and the ability to just keep going in the snow last year are exactly what I need. Plus, in these tough times, by driving carefully I get a consistent 40mpg!

Service staff at the local dealership (Guy Salmon Portsmouth) are really helpful and the few problems I have had on my current car since out of warranty are a regrettable but, so far, bearable cost of running this brand.

The constructive side of this forum is a most helpful resource and really helps the overall ownership experience (thanks Martin Thumbs Up ).

Am I happy with my FL2?...Oh Yes Very Happy

Not that you would ever be able to get any official figures, but it would be nice to know how many are sold that they never hear about again against the amount that do give a problem. I would expect the problematic figures to be very low, around 1 or 2% of the sold figures.

.....and another satisfied owner here for the last 4years Thumbs Up . Several small warranty fixes during the first 3 years and several cosmetic problems developing during the last year - All well known and well documented on this forum by others but that has not spoilt the joy of driving Freely Very Happy .

In a nutshell - for us it has been an excellent reliable and economical vehicle to drive in winter and off road as well as a good an asphalt touring car Thumbs Up Thumbs Up .
Interior design is now looking rather dated compared with the newer competition Sad and even when introduced did not equal BMW quality Sad .
The whole concept is unfortunately let down by poor interior quality and interior design - splitting pleather seat sides etc, thoughtless lack of storage space and also the arrogant unhelpfulness of customer service at Land Rover UK Mad .
Would I buy another - No, but I would buy a Evoque if I could afford one Whistle . 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.
Stornoway Grey with Ebony Black Pleather, Clear Indicators, Body Side Mouldings etc.

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey

Had the car now since July. Done about 5,000 miles in it. First car I have had that gives me a grin on my face when driving! Love it.
+ve's: Feels safe, solid, comfortable; handles well; great presence; good looker; tows well; heated screen and seats a boon on cold mornings.
-ve's: Economy could be better (it is as I expected in truth); boot could be bigger; sat nav a real disappointment and a waste of space (are you listening LR???)
Reliability has been good thus far (I bought it at 75K) apart from seized front caliper within a month! - fixed with new discs & pads. History shows main expense has been tyres. Original warranty covered level 1 diff repair and rear bearings plus intercooler pipe only. Still on original clutch. Pulls like a train. Thumbs Up 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

08 FL2 TD4 SE Manual in Rimini Red (Now Gone)
