Has anyone had the same problem with the “rain sensing “wipers as me?

When I start up the car the wipers do one wipe of the screen? Now this is a bone dry screen, not a drop of water on it? Thing is if there is any grit on the screen it’s going to scratch the hell out of the screen.

I have tried adjusting the sensor but does not make any difference

Going to scatch the screen, washing my car last week, noticed the screen is now scatched

Wonder what the dealer is going to say on this

Mine does it as well, though not very often.

Might have to pop into the dealer when passing and see what they say, don't want to damage the screen.

I have had the software update and the wipers still wipe the screen on start up, not every time but still regular.

Now the dealer gave me some bull that they are meant to do it to self check????

But if you read the hand book it states “do not operate the wipers on a dry screen as it can damage the mechanism “.

When I went on the Landrover experience day I asked the driver there and he said everyone of the FL2 they had did it.

So it’s a technical glitch but one that the dealers don’t seem to have a 100% cure for?

But as I said before if I get a scratched screen, no way am I paying for it to be replaced!

I do same as with my Audi - leave on auto and forget, no worries at all - maybe alter sensitivity occasionally At work

Mine are set to auto and no problems on start-up in 1100 miles. They do sometimes need me to do a flick wipe before they kick-in, but that's perhaps me being impatient. Question Was GS TD4 Auto, Privacy, Santorini with Tundra & Alpaca, Cold Climate Pack. Traded for Discovery Sport HSE Auto.

I allways have mine on off as I do not want to forget and have it on in a car wash.
Same goes for the lights as I normally have the lights on while out of town and I think they kick in sort of late. FREELANDER 2 TD4 SE (XS UK) IZMIR BLUE SIDE STEPS COLD PACK BI-XENON TINTED WINDOWS - AND PROUD OF HER

I also get it sometimes... Every time I had the problem was when my car was parked outisde in the street and not in my parking lot (garage). Maybe some temperature issues are causing this trouble ?

More likely to be dust / dirt deposited on the screen whilst parked outside which is detected by the sensor, initiating a wipe. As you say, it doesn`t happen when parked indoors.
I always keep the Auto wipers off until I use my eye detectors to see rain, then switch on. Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!

Had my FL2 3 days and it did the one wipe thing today? Confused No dirt on the sensor. I'll ask the dealer on Monday when I take in to get the roof rails fitted as they forgot to fit them, What the F***ks going on!

Anybody got any news on this? My LR2 does the same thing. I thought it was normal until I found this thread.
