Snow traction system is just a version of snow chains, you fit a special bracket to the wheel hub and then attach the traction system to the tyre via the bracket. The difference between the traction system and traditional snow chains is that the traction system is only on the tread part of the tyre and the outer wall rather than the inside as well. It is particularly useful on any vehicle with limited clearance on the inner side of the tyre such as Freelander 2 with wheels larger then 18 inches.

They may well fit but according to the relevant section of the owners manual they shouldn't be fitted to wheels over 18"

Before discovering snow tyres I used snow chains. Chains are a pain - they are awkward to get on/off - they need to be kept tensioned and if you drive them on black sections of tarmac they are very slippy and will wear out after only 100ish miles. |
