I've had mine since Christmas, no reliability problems and for 95% of the time I prefer to drive it rather than our other car, a BMW 330!

Absolutely right. After driving the FL2 I drove again my 407 (cannot compare to a 330 but still..) before selling her and could not find an easy driving posiyion and everything reallyseemed out of place. The FL2 is such an easy car to love and drive. I allways preffered manual boxes bt after all I have read on this forum I am not so sure anymore as the auto box ooks great even if the mpg is a bit higher. The drive test car had an auto but at that time (and even now) I think I made the best choice from what the dealer had on offer. Maybe next tim. Who knows. I can't believe that someone would prefer driving a LR2 to a BMW. The LR2 must be something...... I just hope it drives as well as it looks. p.s: How good is it off road? I am a novice at driving off road and would like a SUV that would make it to the remote beaches and across river beds. |

Had ours since Jan (1 year old ex demo) and its been back for a spurious warning popping up on the display from time to time (software fix). Other than that, there is an issue with the fuel gauge sticking on 0 when its very low (but not 0) and the recall for the sunroof but neither are worth the drive to the dealers for so they can wait for the next service. In terms of reliability, she's been fine. Starts first bash of the key, locks and unlocks on the button, nothing's fallen off, broken or malfunctioned. Given that ours would have been one of the first built, I expected a few niggles they seem to have had the LR2 pretty well sorted from the start.

Sounds like the car is well sorted. Over here in dubai they are offering a 5year 250,000Km warranty along with it. Which is great. We are heading out for the test drives tomorrow - shortlisted cars are the LR2, X3, XC90 and the FX35. Hope the missus likes the LR2 - I would love to get one (am already planning some off-roading trips). |

To be honest its partly novelty value, the 330 is my 3rd straight BMW and the Freelander is just so different, obviously its nowhere near as quick but I find it more comfortable and definately more relaxing to drive, maybe I'm getting old I do still enjoy a blast in the BM though! Hope you enjoy whatever you end up with. |

I bet you will had to persuade her to like the LR as it’s really a mans car, although my wife loves it and she agreed 100% with the choice as well (but then I didn’t let her try the X3) . I think the XC90 is the most practical of the bunch to own, especially if you transport 4+ people regularly on long journeys and is the best sexless 4x4. But they just can’t compare with the Norwegian winter capabilities of the LR, - I know I have tried in my mountain playground. The X3 is the one most women here in Norway would choose, purely for the snob value, but they don’t know nuffing about the mechanics of 4x4’s, it’s just the badge, colour and SUV-status they are interested in (most are blonds here anyway). The FX35 looks pretty, but I don’t know anything about it – isn’t it just a crossover You will end up with the FL2, especially if your budget allows you all the extras – they are expensive but certainly the best of the bunch. When I tried the FL2 for the first time – I wanted it, but couldn’t afford it , but the second time I tried it (after a couple of bank jobs) , I bought it, and it’s been fantastic to drive, love and cherish ever since. I have not had any issues with the FL2 at all. ps - I do not work for LR 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof. Stornoway Grey with Ebony Black Pleather, Clear Indicators, Body Side Mouldings etc. |

We already have one Bimmer so I am hoping this will be enough to not get another one. We don't transport many people around town - mainly 2-3 every couple of weeks. The main reason for the 4x4 is that with the 3 series coupe and the 307cc the options are limited when the weekend comes along. We can't head out into the desert or the mountains. I did try take the 3 series onto some sand once - about 10 feet off the beach road. And got stuck promptly. Ended up waiting till 4 in the morning to get it out. and it was new year's as well. Will never forget that night. |
