Rear Spoiler

Was in the dealer this afternoon collecting my car and there was an HST in the showroom. Didn't see where the extra money was and don't rate the bodykit much. It did have the the rear spoiler and I have always thought it looks good. It appears to be secured by two clips which look easily installed. What I want to know is is it that simple and can you purchase one separately and in the correct colour?

I purchased mine separately from the dealer. It came primed and the dealer painted it for me. The paint job costed as much as the spoiler. Sad But it really gives a good finish to the rear end.

You can get them separately from Dealers and they also appear on ebay. The fitting involves two brackets and 3m adhesives. I am about to get mine painted and fitted next week and the paint shop doing it is that used by the local LR dealer and are doing the painting and fitting for much less than the cost of the spoiler off ebay.

Deos the spoiler have any pratical use, like deflecting rain from the rear glass or is there proven advantages when driving at high speed Rolling Eyes or is it just for looks Question Yawn
Personally if its only for looks, I would have thought the extra expence would be better spent on something more exclusive like the Titanium colour 19" alloys and matching Titanium door handels for example Thumbs Up 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

Spoiler mainly for looks. I've just done a 300 mile round trip from Devon to Oxford and did not notice any difference in handling.

Regarding how it is held on, the 3M tape does the main job with the small brackets making sure if any small children dangle off it, it stays in place long enough for you to get them with the rear wiper!

See my gallary for picks of mine. Had it installed by Stealer. Total Job was £325 which included £75 for fitting!!! I was happy to pay for fitting as it is one of those things, if you do not get it on straight, the 3m tape is so stickey it is not coming off and would look real naff.
Thumbs Up

I would say mainly for looks, but due to the shallow angle of the rear window and teh overhang of the spoiler probably does keepthe window slightly cleaner....maybe!! Laughing
