Having owned a TD4 Auto from 2008 to 2011 and a SD4 Auto from 2012 to present I thought I would share my mpg figures. These are based on business mileage and I always kept a note of the mpg for each trip so the figures are quite comprehensive. Based upon 20000 business miles in the TD4 and 23000 business miles in the SD4 the results are as follows:-

April 2012 to now, 35mpg (manually worked out, computer normally shows 2 or 3 mpg more) |

One thing I should point out is that the MY13 updated dash works the mpg computer differently in that when stationary the mpg will reduce whereas on pre-updated dashes the mpg stays constant. Therefore MY13 owners will not get similar readings as I have mentioned. |

I've had my SD4 since 1st May. Done 6000 miles. Driven on a range of road types, not all round the town. I don't get anything like those figures. I think I'm pretty light on the throttle, don't really thrash it. How are you managing it? I was fairly happy as I'd previously owned an i6 Petrol Freelander (which was very thirsty - 20mpg). Not so happy having read your thread. Tips and advice to improve consumption gratefully received. |

Driving an auto to get best milage can be a bit of an art and every car is slightly different.
