While helping my wife with her master (as her english is not quite good enough) came across this:

"Pigeon Overhead: Bombs Away!
Animals have consistently played a prominent role in learning and conditioning experiments, from Edward Thorndike's cats to Edward Tolman's rats to the disobedient menagerie of Marian and Keller Breland. Included in this list are some very famous pigeons who almost helped the national defense.
B. F. Skinner worked at the University of Minnesota during the second World War. Interested in applying the principles of operant conditioning to the war effort, Skinner trained pigeons to peck at discs which had moving pictures of enemy targets displayed on them. The pecking served to close electronic circuits, which in turn formed a self-regulating system. Although this is no great feat in itself - these actions faithfully follow the most basic rules of operant conditioning - Skinner's vision was to install his pigeons, discs, and circuits in gliders packed with explosives. The idea was to have the pigeons peck on cue to manipulate the circuits, which in turn would keep the glider on its kamikaze course toward an enemy target. A neat, tidy bombing run, with no loss of human life.
The Defense Department declined Skinner's help, even though he demonstrated to top scientists that the homing device withstood electronic jamming, the apparatus was inexpensive to build, and the basic set-up could be applied to a range of enemy targets. In the present era of Star Wars weaponry, stealth bombers, and combat guided by virtual reality, perhaps a pigeon bombardier wouldn't seem so far-fetched.

Skinner, B. F. (1960). Pigeons in a pelican. American Psychologist, 15, 28-37."

Anyway just to make you feel good have a look at this seagull tasting his own medicine.

I hate Censored seaguls Exclamation

Whilst on holiday in St Ive's, Cornwall, we got a bit of food and the seagull came down wacked in to my wifes face and body, whilst trying to nick her pizza slice.

It hit her with such force it left a bruise, Shocked

It landed on the floor next to us, so i took 2 steps to scare it away, whilst swinging my foot to kick it (like taking a penalty), to my amazement it didn't move until my size 11 booted it 20-30ft into a wall. Very Happy

Still with pizza in its beak, it landed, looked over at me and waddled off, once finish eating it flew away.

I guess it's people feeding them that made them so fresh as I have seen that poeple enjoy feeding them without thinking that doing this will teach them that there is a much easier way to get food than tryng to catch the food themselves.
Unfortunately this also lead to seagulls actually atacking small children for the food they are holding (read something about this some time ago). FREELANDER 2 TD4 SE (XS UK) IZMIR BLUE SIDE STEPS COLD PACK BI-XENON TINTED WINDOWS - AND PROUD OF HER

The seagulls wear leather jackets up here, smoke woodbines and smack their lasses about in public.

I tried to ask one of them to stop staring at my missus in a kebab queue one Saturday evening....... Whistle
