12v Boot Socket Install

Finally got round to installing my 12v socket in the boot.
I spent ages looking on the forums and the net to see where was best to wire it up to but in the end i wired it to the light in the boot. It won't be on when the engine stops so that works for me.

Nice did you use a fuse? When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car

I did look at the fuse box in the boot but i decided that the fuse on the light will be enough. if not ill increase it. To be honest I couldn't see how to wire it up otherwise. I don't really want a direct feed off the battery.

That reminds me - does anyone know if if's easy to re-wire the two sockets in the centre console so that the rear one is ignition switched and the front one stays on? Would be so much neater that way around.... 2011 MY SD4 HSE + planning some interesting stuff

If you have problems with the supply from the light, under the floor tray in the boot, you have another fuse box, you can use FB35, it's ignition controlled. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Adding the socket to the interior boot lamp is not the way to do it. Neither is uprating the fuse; it's there to protect the wiring, not whatever is plugged into the socket. If you sell the vehicle on, Lord knows what the new owner will use it for.

ad23445675454 advice is spot on Thumbs Up You can then use the correct size of fuse/cable. As the socket cover says 20 amp max, you need a 30 amp fuse and 2.0mm csa cable. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.
