Bluetooth connection s4 mini

Trying to connect my s4 mini to the land rover, I set both to search for each other, the land rover can see my phone but won't connect, because my phone can't see the land rover.
Is there a setting on the phone I'm missing or is it just being awkward and won't connect?
Edit.......
Just tried my s3 and it can see the land rover named as my car and the land rover can see the s3 but it won't connect. My s3 can see my s4 mini too.
Must be doing something wrong or my land rover doesn't like Samsung phones. Laughing

You can check phone compatibility using the links in the owners section of the Land Rover website.

Hi lad, I've just had a look on the LR website and entered my old 07SE VIN which did not show your S4 mini as a compatible phone. It did show my older S mini (GT S5570) with partial functionality. I then checked the site with my MY13 VIN and it showed the S4 mini as fully compatible. It also showed my old mini as fully compatible (and it does work well in the car). Looks like a new car or older phone Twisted Evil 2007 SE Manual : Gone and missed but 2013 HSE Lux is better!
Series IIa : Gone but hopefully still alive.

Rolling Eyes Cheers!!! It was funny that the car found the phone but the phone didn't find the car. Wonder if there is any update available to allow them both to connect. Only want to be able to answer the phone. Don't want all the other features.

I just tried my wife's S4 Mini on my '07 SE. It took 4 or 5 attempts, during which I deleted all off the old phones on the car. It eventually did pair and loaded the the phone book. At the risk of stating the obvious, have the car searching (pressing OK when prompted) and with "make visible to nearby" ticked and "scan" pressed on the phone.

Tried S3 all day yesterday and today no joy in Freelander at all.

Picked up D4 30 secs all connected and synced no problems at all and even had 100 percent success with voice call dialing.

Not really helpful Embarassed and a very expensive option to sort out something that should work in the first place.

Mentioned it to the dealers today and they reckon Freelander is the car that causes most problems with bluetooth connection.

Seems if you still have app running the s3/4 will not connect to system.
Even if you switch app off will still not connect
Only way I found was to go to phone settings and turn off Bluetooth and the switch back on, car would then find and sync ok

I connected my Nokia to MY13 FL2 which was accepted. However the phone only makes a connection with the car running and when the radio is turned on. The phone disconnects when the radio is turned off even when the ignition is on and the engine is running.
Is this normal as on my MY08 FL2 the phone connected as soon as the ignition was turned on and disconnected only when the ignition was turned off!
