There is a visibility requirement in Japan for vehicles and being able to see a cylinder of prescribed size along the front and side of the vehicle. Later Japanese Freelander use a camera based system. It's supposed to replicate the ability to see a small child. |

My recollection is that the legislation was introduced due to a small child being killed when the driver couldn't see properly. Most vehicles (e.g. Evoque, Range Rover + Sport) use surround camera systems to be compliant, whereas Freelander use a domestic (JLR Japan) solution as surround cameras aren't available as Halewood fit. |

my sis in law iirc also had whips stuck to each front bumper, pointing straight upwards, positioned on the corner, i recall her saying that was so you knew where the corn of the bumper was and if the whip moved your nudging something

Hi Natwest sorry should be more clear yes it is. Why isn't it available as a Halewood fit? Why is the freelander 2 not built in Solihull? |
