Many of you will remember the saga of her Laydship's FL2's Adaptive Headlight's inability to adapt last year ( ref original thread: http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic7136.html ); well last night the dash warning light came flashing on indicating that the AFS was now locked again in the stationary position.

That is bad news after your previous experience. Did LRPR tell you what they did to fix it when you were over here? Electrical or mechanical problem? Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.

No not in the fine detail - but they worked and were not pointing at Jupiter anymore. |

Sadly not. February here has turned out like early summer (May) and the ski slopes are only used by fools and tourists (us locals don't ski on a piste of mixed artificial snow and sludge) and, I've been out hiking in short sleeve shirts, shorts n sun glasses and sun blocker at +3,700ft. I want blizzards n freezing snow from now on until at least May to compensate - and so does my daughter. |

With less that 2000 miles on the odometer, the AFS warning light has come on three times now (2010 HSE Sport LTD Ed). Once when the ambient temperature was below freezing, and twice when above. In each instance, I turned the ignition off; restarted the vehicle, and the lights returned to working order. |

I had the AFS software "reflashed" again (the AFS has now been attended to 4 times since Nov20th 2009) - by the recently appointed LR SERVICE ONLY CENTRE and not the selling LR dealer. Presently they are working i.e adaptive again - for how long we will have to see. If they fail again I will submit in writing to LR Switzerland an official complaint. |

You are not alone Ive had similar problems with the AFS on my BMW 3 series. Every now and then they go mad and point in different directions especially on roundabouts. Dealerships cannot pin point the problem and have replaced a fair bit of the original lights and black boxes. I think there is an inherent fault in the design as the lights cannot keep up with the steering wheel position whilst taking a series of fast S bends. Jules |

Shame they never fixed the problem athelstan. I'm going to try "re-programming" the software and if that doesn't fix it then I think i'll just leave it. The lights work so I guess there's not much point in trying to fix something thats not really broken! Just need to train myself to ignore the flashing light...
