Scotland 2014 Freelander 2 TD4_e Dynamic Manual Fuji White
A bar / bull bar

A bar / bullbar

Legality aside .... (do get some eu approved ones)

Any got one fitted to their Freelander? Is so some snaps would be nice as will be fitting one to my dynamic when I place an order for one. Sadly I can only see a handful of companies selling them and they don't look no where near as good as the one fitted on my Freelander 1 td4. I can only see low bumper ones.

Cheers

New EU compliant frontal protection systems are mostly fitted for cosmetic purposes. They look good on your vehicle. These front bars are simply no good as a 'nudge guard'

Says it all really - they're legal because they're useless!

As for "They look good on your vehicle" - not if you have a scrap of taste they don't!

G4 one is fine, and is there for a purpose. The ones in the link are chrome and useless. If you follow the link and go to the land rover products there's a pic of one on an fl2. I think you'll see what I mean! It looks awful.

Non ugly front end thingy.

I like the LR accessory front end thingy so had one from new.
I wanted something to make my car stand out a little in field full of blue Freelies - so this is what it looks like...

So there - it is... definitely standing out and definitely beautiful in the eyes of at least one beholder.
Although in no way a bull bar it does offer some minor bump protection - the wind can for example slam the garage door onto it without any damage - try that with the standard LR hopelessly feeble front "bumper". And if a careless child on the superstore car park slams a shopping trolley into it with enough force to gouge paint it simply absorbs the impact without even a scratch. It also protects a sizeable bit of the front end from stone damage and chipping from gritters etc
But apart from that, I just quite like the sticky out look...

Looks good Thumbs Up however on the dynamic you cannot fit the genuine style front bumper protector Big Cry so looking at a stainless version you can also get EU apporoved ones but wanting one that does suit the car.

I guess that if you are a dairy/beef farmer with a Defender and insured with NFU then you might get away with it these days.

Why would Chrome type bull bars be illegal, but fitting a winch to the front not be illegal.

A pedestrian coming into contact with a Disco with a solid bumper complete with winch is going to be more injured than one who gets in the way of a standard vehicle. Being hit with 2.5 tons of vehicle is always going to hurt mind.

Most 4x4 magasines have adverts for winch bumpers made from fairly substantial steel fabrications, would it not also be illegal to sell these. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
