Its a no brainer really, Nexus 7 is a superior piece of kit, faster processor, higher resolution display and over 」100 cheaper. And I say that as an ipad owner!

problem is will a Nexus 7 allow all your current apple apps to be installed?

or would you need to start buying them all over again

Thats my quandary, buy my son a iPad Mini for christmas or look at something else

But since he gets a little obsessed with it and wants to play on it for hours, i think it might be put on hold and get him a appleTV for his bedroom Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

We have both in the house. I use the iPad, my youngest Son the Nexus. Both have positives and negatives, however I am surprised at just how much the Nexus is hamstrung - I was under the impression that it could do everything an Apple device couldn't (which it can't!)

I guess, like everything else, it depends on what you expect it to do versus what it needs to do. Go play with both, and make the call accordingly. Foraging near Gaydon....

I would probably choose the nexus. A much as I like my iPad, I don't know if I would have another one.

Many other companies have caught up with Apple. Even with the new iOS 7.

The iPad is nice, and iOS 7 looks really nice, but is the iPad worth that much more than the Nexus?

Put it this way - whilst I have an iPhone my tablet is a Nexus 7!

@ badger, does your apps for the ipad work on the nexus?

My ipad is full of things for the kids, and i could spend the 」100 difference in buying them again for a nexus if i bought one.

Also, does it connect to itunes and swap music between each other like a iPad, or conect to iCloud for streaming?

i have to say i think the answer to the above will be no, but thought i would ask you as your in a better position to know Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

No, definitely not. Nothing interacts with any Apple App whatsoever..the only time I use it is if I want took at something in Flash. Foraging near Gaydon....

It would be interesting to know what you want to do but can't. I haven't yet found any limitations beyond those I'd expect of a tablet OS, and even without rooting Android is less constrained than iOS. iOS and Android aren't supposed to be desktop OSes - you'd need a Windows 8 tablet at $$$ for that.

Just my two cents worth. I too own both. I use my nexus for at work for movies and surfing because you don't need to convert anything, just a on the go cable and USB stick. For home use and ease of Internet browsing , emails, bank and other admin, iPad mini all the time. Smile

Android has one huge advantage for web browsing - it allows me to use the same browsers and ad blockers, etc, as I run on my desktop, and filter out all the c*** I don't want to see. iOS doesn't let me do that, and for me that's a big deal as I hate being bombarded with ads all the time. So for me Android is the clear winner for web browsing.

Admittedly, though, the standard Jelly Bean email client is pretty limited. It does what I need it to, and I can live with it, but it could be a lot better.
