looking for you views and valued opinions about getting either a ipad or the new Nexus 7 but is there going to be a update on the ipad mini before the end of the year? which would you get?

nexus 7 32mb wifi £239
ipad mini 32 mb wifi £349

so big difference in price and i suspect if apple introduce a new model it will be even more expensive  1995 P38 now dead

Its a no brainer really, Nexus 7 is a superior piece of kit, faster processor, higher resolution display and over £100 cheaper. And I say that as an ipad owner!

iPad update was released yesterday! Just installed it! 1998 300TDi Auto Disco, never to be forgotten.

problem is will a Nexus 7 allow all your current apple apps to be installed?

or would you need to start buying them all over again

Thats my quandary, buy my son a iPad Mini for christmas or look at something else

But since he gets a little obsessed with it and wants to play on it for hours, i think it might be put on hold and get him a appleTV for his bedroom Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

We have both in the house. I use the iPad, my youngest Son the Nexus. Both have positives and negatives, however I am surprised at just how much the Nexus is hamstrung - I was under the impression that it could do everything an Apple device couldn't (which it can't!)

I guess, like everything else, it depends on what you expect it to do versus what it needs to do. Go play with both, and make the call accordingly. Foraging near Gaydon....

I would probably choose the nexus. A much as I like my iPad, I don't know if I would have another one.

Many other companies have caught up with Apple. Even with the new iOS 7.

The iPad is nice, and iOS 7 looks really nice, but is the iPad worth that much more than the Nexus?

Put it this way - whilst I have an iPhone my tablet is a Nexus 7!

@ badger, does your apps for the ipad work on the nexus?

My ipad is full of things for the kids, and i could spend the £100 difference in buying them again for a nexus if i bought one.

Also, does it connect to itunes and swap music between each other like a iPad, or conect to iCloud for streaming?

No, definitely not. Nothing interacts with any Apple App whatsoever..the only time I use it is if I want took at something in Flash. Foraging near Gaydon....

Just my two cents worth. I too own both. I use my nexus for at work for movies and surfing because you don't need to convert anything, just a on the go cable and USB stick. For home use and ease of Internet browsing , emails, bank and other admin, iPad mini all the time.

Apple all the way for me too, I use the iPad mini for most things, all other things I use my iphone. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

looks like i will be spending the extra as well and going for the Apple Ipad Mini,

thanks guys for helping me make up my mind BUT one last thing is there going to be a new Ipad Mini released before Xmas i understand you cant always wait for the latest newest device to come out but i suspect there might be something for the Christmas rush 1995 P38 now dead
