Jeep Cherokee - Most awarded

Just seen an advert for the Jeep Grand Cherokee, it claimed...

" The most awarded SUV...ever"

Read the nonsense here

Given that most of the awards are American and they probably only had the Cherokee and not much else, is this sort of marketing hype really fair? Personally I find I buy what I want, I disregard advertising, it obviously plants a seed but how many people will take this sort of statement at face value and get the Jeep on the back of it.

Gonna add my 2 cents this this
Had 2 jeeps before the FL2, first one was a Cherokee 4.0L limited and had nothing but trouble but like a fool I went and bought another one a Jeep Cherokee 3.7 limited full spec,,,, nothing but trouble again in and out of the garage I know some members on here could say the same about the FL2 but with having experience with both I would say the freelander is way above and more advanced than a jeep in build and quality... BETTER looking half of the famous Twinlanders

yep I would agree that Jeeps are trouble.
When I worked on them it was a full time job ! build quality of everything is abysmal !cheap & horrible.

Taz,
I'm afraid car advertising has gone downhill in recent years, in particular large posters and TV adverts.
None say anything about the vehicle. Seems all about 'cred' now.

Now it's possible that the Cherokee is the most awarded.
But with what?
Largest number of recall for example? Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Used to have a Jeep Cherokee 4.0L years ago, had it for about 3 years and not one single problem with it. I guess it's swings & roundabouts as far as getting a fault free car these days Confused ______________________
