my wife is changing her Toyota iq for a new Maxda which will take about 2 weeks to be delivered.

No problems, it will ease the sale instead of waiting for the plate transfer, dvla seem to get slower and slower. in the past I have put my plate on retention prior to the sale, so dealer can put my plate on the car quickly and easily.

Private reg transfers are a real mess at the moment. It's just taken more than 3 weeks for Swansea to process a transfer from retention onto a vehicle for my brother-in-law. Last time it just took a 15 minute visit to the local DVLA office.

from what you guys are saying I may leave it on retention for a while till things calm down a bit !!
