Laughing

That's why I'm going to look at a new RRS at the weekend, looking forward to having a drive! Cool

SWMBO is requesting a new car though! Shocked I might buy her a cheaper car than she has got and save a few £££ for something else. Twisted Evil Whistle

I like a gadget, so if the 14MY comes with something stupidly techie then I'm going to need everyones help and support. Laughing

It just dawned on me that I got an LRE voucher through the door after I bought mine, I haven't booked it yet, may wait and do it in the new RRS, reading the back of the voucher it says I have 12 months to use it. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I didn't get one with mine. Sad Maybe I will order a new car just for the voucher? Whistle Laughing

I wish! Big Cry

SWMBO has almost banned me from buying new cars as she says that "I would lose so much money come resale time". Yawn

Normally I don't listen anyway and may have a good look around the dealers stock. Probably wont change until next year though, but I still love my car.

Interesting as it was of the R&D guys at Gaydon that told me about the 2016MY launch. Suppose they could show it in early 2015. The Evoque was shown as the LRX is 2009!

Mav, you may be right about the engines delaying the car, it makes no sense to launch it with the current Shocked offering.
I fear it may loose sales though, the FL2 needs a new model desperately, it's no longer a 'desired' car as it's getting too old and with easy upgrades to make an 'older' car look new is putting off potential buyers in my opinion.

I am not so sure about the current Freelander not being desired. They are still on 24 hour Freelander production. The thing about LR products, is that they have always had a good knack at being able to keep a model going for longer and still be wanted than any other manufacturer. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Mav,
We could both be right, replacement for current Freelander due out in 2014 and an all new model to fit into the LR lineup out in 2016 to match the 3 models in the RR range? Would fit with the reported increase in the number of models across JLR.

Freelander outsold Evoque in the early part of this year and as far as I'm aware demand is still strong for it.

The LR engine plant is die to start production in 2014, not sure exactly when but was led to believe it was around Spring time.

Have to say, I did consider getting the Evoque - but did not like the restricted view out of the rear. Glad I went for the FL2 as it has more space for loading in the boot and I can get large items in due to the high roof line. Thumbs Up

The deal breaker for me was the FL2 has a better towing capacity Wink

Happy motoring

Sorry got lost in my train of thought in previous post - what was I thinking about Oh yeah, does this mean that if the new FL2 is based on the same platform as the Evoque the people who tow might have to start driving around in RRS or D4s?

There 100% won't be a replacement for the current car and then a new one in 2016. The new car is the L550 project and will be seen in mid 2015. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Guys

I'm sort of a newby on here...
My local Stealer told me the Freelander is to be discontinued...2014 !
the replacement is a smaller version of the Disco replacement...one of the five initial models it will have (included a pick-up & a van)...

I dont believe this & see the Freelander / Evoque models staying to use & justify that platform....why would LR/J drop this if it makes money & has the volumes that justify production...which for the company is what its all about
The Disco will (or should !) share a common platform with the Defender...to justify development & production numbers with that aspect of the range

Please dont yell at me for saying this...I'm just the messenger !

Surely the eventual models will have the engines common to F type (yippee) & the soon to be announced small saloon / estate Jag... Have:
Freelander 2 SE...just brilliant
Discovery 3 HSE....the workhorse
Jaguar S Type....now eclipsed by the XF

Dealers tend to be the last to know what is going on, but they are right in this case that the freelander will discontinue after the current model finished production in early/ mid 2015.

All the new cars will be built on a new platform and the Freelanders replacement is likely to be part of an extended Discovery family. Aot of changes are going to happen to differentiate the Land Rover and Range Rover products.

The next Defender and Discovery family will share the same platform which will be adaptable for all the models. Just like VW groups MQB platform. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Will the "FL3" have a 7 seat version?
(that's what I've been told)
