Big Cry Now I find out they have been damaging my cars for years. Big Cry

Thanks for the info Nick, but I will continue to use it as the water in my area is very hard and it leaves streaks if I use a microfibres cloth only. Sad I make sure the squeegee is cleaned properly before and during use. Thumbs Up

Chris, if you dry it with a Microfibre cloth your removing the water completely so there is no water to give you streaks Question p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Hi AD, sorry I didn't make it clear, I meant that using the squeegee removes the excess water that stops it from streaking. Embarassed

England 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Indus Silver

Hi all,
when I first asked the question, i thought I might get a few comments. It's great that so many people are happy to give advice on what to me is a new subject.
Next item i need to order now is a microfibre drying towel.
She who must be obeyed would have a fit if she knew how much I was spending on stuff just to clean the car!!

My water is hard also, but wipe it off straight away and there is none left to streak.
Honestly Chris, throw away the squeegee, get yourself two decent Microfibre cloths use one for taking most of the water off and the other one for the final wipe. Pop to Halfrauds and buy the Autoglym ones, buy cheap buy twice, or try polished bliss online Thumbs Up p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Local supermarket especially Asda is your friend for cloths and drying towels. Literally a few quid.

They also have the odd deal on glass cleaner or cheap and cheerful cleaning products Thumbs Up 2013 FL2 - Black Edition Auto

England 2011 Freelander 2 TD4_e XS Manual Zermatt Silver

I had a d3 in santorini , what a fabulous paint when clean and sunny the Mettalic chips in the paint reflect any colour you want.

However the down side is keeping it clean.

I used the self drying shampoo, in a bucket with wash mitt , jet wash car with fan setting to remove loose dust, then wash, dry with micro fibre cloth and shammy, then polish, I use poor boys ( could get black hole) polish with wax, then poor boys natty boy blue wax, then put a gloss coat on.

Use plenty of cloths when polishing and waxing. Enjoy the colour. My11 freelander 2, xs, Manual, 18" hse sparkles, sidesteps, privacy, zermatt silver metallic, almond nutmeg alacantra, twin electric towbar

Never used the self drying shampoo - is it a good product? Does it leave a streak free finish?
Really pleased with how the car looks now I have finished putting on the products. Used some Chemical Guys Blue cleaner on the wheels, then after washing just waxed them with Nattys Blue. Look brilliant after buffing up and the rain and dirt just rolls off.
Next step may be to go for snow foam.
Never felt this way about a car before, like being a teenager with my first car. Love driving it and fingers crossed, have had no issues or problems in the 3 weeks of ownership. Only disappointment is the MPG which I hoped would be better. (33.4 after 250 miles of use). 2011 XS SD4, Indus Silver (Getting to love it more and more)
2012 HSE Manual, Santorini Black (Loved it and did not want to let it go)
2011 Honda CRV EX IDTEC (Gone and never really loved)
2007 HONDA CRV CDT-I Exec (Gone and really missed)

The self drying shampoo is ok, it's not perfect so you can't just was and go, but in the sun it's much less streaky than normal car was shampoo. My11 freelander 2, xs, Manual, 18" hse sparkles, sidesteps, privacy, zermatt silver metallic, almond nutmeg alacantra, twin electric towbar
